Lets start sharing folks I hope this works any ideas to improve the website?
Somebody is rutting up the road west of Dobson pass
Is Elsie lake road groomed ?
No its not do to all the trees that were down the groomer is behind because it takes the groomer crews longer to groom trails when they have to cut out a ton of trees. They think it will happen next week so please check back.
Where is the Idaho Shelter? I see it mentioned in grooming reports with Burke. I know how to get to Burke. Where’s the shelter? Thanks
The Idaho shelter can be accessed from Burke or Mullan. From Burke ride up from the parking area until you get to the top where the road breaks through the saddle onto the Mullan side I then take a shortcut and climb to the top of the mountain and ride the ridge to the east lots of tracks just follow them.
From Mullan park at the Fire District building just past the Lucky Friday mine and head up when you hit the power line road turn left and take the next right(about 1/2 mile) follow that road to the top you will see an A frame on the left. They’re grooming it tomorrow night from the fire station so it should be good.
Great website but you need more photos in the gallery to salivate over during those long summer months to come.
We would love to see more grooming of Elsie and Burke this season!
how about updating this year
What’s the status of grooming the TeePee Creek cabin area and Long Tom?
Please groom Burke
I agree! Burke needs groomed, we currently do not have a way to move the east end groomer. Its to dangerous to come across from Mullan. We need help getting our truck fixed then we will be there ASAP.
Glad I found the site! Wanted to spread the latest NON MOTORIZED attempt:
Come learn how you can help protect backcountry ski opportunities in the Stevens Peak Backcountry:
Check their post:
For several years, organizations representing backcountry skiers in the Idaho Panhandle, eastern Washington, and western Montana have been working with local snowmobilers and the Idaho State Snowmobile Association to reach an agreement about how to share the Stevens Peak Backcountry. They’re hosting a meeting at Lookout Pass Ski Area starting at 2pm (PST) on January 14 to present this agreement to the broader backcountry community and solicit support. The Forest Service will be present to answer questions about their role in managing this area as well. All welcome!
Attached is a map of the proposed non-motorized area
Yeah a new groomer! Thanks to the volunteers! It would be a huge help if the groomer report could be updated regularly. Without them us trail riders don’t know where to put in…. we tried Bumblebee a couple weeks ago & got stuck twice in 15 miles! If you guys go to the trouble of putting in your time we may as well get to enjoy the trails! Thanks again! PS I just found the blog!
Yes the boys that take care of the west end have been either been very sick or out of town. But the east end is being groomed regularly and I haven’t been able to keep up with reports. Give me a few minutes and I’ll get on it!
Thanks saw the update! Fingers crossed for the west side!
